Sometimes, you have to challenge yourself to embrace the unknown.
(Even though it might be scary)
As a creative, it’s very easy to fall into the trap of:
1. Keep doing what’s been working
2. Denying that the world has changed
3. Not embracing (even seeking out) the new
But you must consider:
1. What worked THEN might not work NOW
2. We are the instigators and initiators of change
3. People & how they consume has evolved & been revolutionised
Things that stood out for me during my facilitation of the talk on Dance and the 4IR:
1. Build an audience online & people will flock to see you live
2. Have a clear intention for the medium used to showcase your work
3. We might not like it but we must accept it #Change
(The future of the arts & creative industries in South Africa looks bright)
The calibre of minds & artists is unparalleled!
So here’s what you need to do:
1. Seek out & support creatives.
2. Fuse technological advancements with your creativity.
3. Collaborate with others more.
4. Have a clear vision and challenge your biases.
5. Explore different avenues of expression.
6. Keep your message pure but distribute it in various ways.
7. Realise that your hard work will pay off.
(even if it doesn’t seem like it)
There’s more:
8. You are creating the future, now.
(So make - & take - more risks)
Create meaningful work.
Share your meaningful work.
Get rewarded for your meaningful work.
Don’t judge it.
Technology is already a part of our everyday lives. Let’s embrace the future & create with it. ❤️
P.S. Share these thoughts ♻️
